Days 3 and 4 - April 15th, 2005

Dude, I am tired. I will be very sad when this dancing ends but very happy that I will be able to actually sleep! The past two nights went well again. A few flub ups with music tempo and additions to choreography 2 minutes before we enter stage. I just hope it all goes smoothly tonight because Jeremiah is seeing me dance for the first time. I want him to be proud of me..as well as surprised. :) Saturday's matinee has to go well too because of my family and Jeremiah's family that's attending. I think I'm more nervous about costume changes and helping others with their costume changes than I am about actually dancing the number.

But last night we all got little emotional in the dressing room. I don't even know her name but this veteran dancer gave a little speech to pump us up for Opening Night. She mentioned that everyone one of us had a dream as a child. And that dream was to be a dancer. We all were in a professional dressing room, with professional lighting, and an orchestra for us. We had a professional crew moving sets, we were in a professional performing venue and in professional costumes. We all got the chance to live out our dreams for just one week. We auditioned, we danced and now we're performing in a professional production. My dream to be on stage as a dancer has come true.

She had all the dancers misty-eyed. It was such a wonderful speech. It really made me feel like I belonged there.

Plus I had some other dancers tell me that I was a valuable addition to Vaud-Villities. They were all shocked to learn that I had never had any kind of long-term training. Just a few classes here and there that lasted a couple of weeks. That made me feel good. I will miss Vaud-Villities. I'll go back to sitting around and being bored. However, Katie, my co-worker, invited me ballroom dancing. I guess a group of couples are taking lessons and there was one odd guy out and Katie wanted me to be his partner and out-shine everybody else in the class. I'm excited about that. I hope that once Vaud-Villities ends, that the door to my dancing all the time will open.
